UC Davis distinguished professor emerita Lynn Kimsey, entomologist, taxonomist and 34-year director of the Bohart Museum of Entomology,  is "an amazing scientist, science communicator and friend."

It was a day to meet UC Davis bee researchers and learn about the lives of bees when the Bohart Museum of Entomology hosted an open house featuring wild bees and managed bees.

More than 300 attended the May 19th event, noted Tabatha Yang, education and outreach coordinator. They included residents of Yolo, Marin, Solano and Sacramento counties.  

UC Davis bee researchers will be featured when the Bohart Museum of Entomology hosts an open house themed "Bees: Both Wild and Managed" from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, May 19 in Room 1124 of the Academic Surge Building, 455 Crocker Lane.

“It should be a great event!” said Tabatha Yang, education and outreach coordinator. “There is a lot of interest in bees this time of year. The format will be tabling with direct conversations with visitors.” The event is free and family friendly. Parking is also free.

UC Davis distinguished professor emerita Lynn Kimsey of the Department of Entomology and Nematology, recently received a rousing 21-insect net salute for her entomological expertise and for her 34 years as director of the Bohart Museum of Entomology.

Tabatha Yang, education and outreach coordinator for the Bohart Museum of Entomology, is being honored with an inaugural Chancellor's Outstanding Staff Award "in recognition of her exceptional initiative to create a significant positive impact on the UC Davis community over the past 18 months."

All UC Davis Department of Entomology and Nematology displays and activities at the 110th annual UC Davis Picnic Day, set Saturday, April 20, will be in and around Briggs Hall. This includes the Bohart Museum of Entomology displays.

The Bohart Museum of Entomology will showcase scores of specimens, its scientists and their research projects, its petting zoo--and more--at the 13th annual UC Davis Biodiversity Museum Day on Saturday, Feb. 10. Also known as "Super Science Day," the event will spotlight 10 museums or collections. It is free and family friendly.
