UC Davis Professor Emeritus Richard Douglas Hugh Dingle, considered “the world’s eminent scholar on animal migration,” a brilliant scientific collaborator, dedicated mentor, and selfless philanthropist, died Sunday, Sept. 27, while receiving hospice care in Davis. His family attributed his death to congestive heart failure.

A resident of Larkspur, Marin County, he was 89, and looking forward to his 90th birthday on Nov. 4.
