Bohart Museum Displaying Items at Vacaville Museum's 'Art of Death' Gallery Exhibit

 

The Bohart Museum of Entomology at the University of California, Davis, is showing several insect-themed displays in the Vacaville Museum’s six-month-long gallery exhibit, “The Art of Death," underway through Nov. 15 at 213 Buck Ace., Vacaville.

The Bohart Museum, home of a global collection of eight million insect specimens, is sharing educational information involving multiple insect species, as well as the specimens.

Joseph Tauzer Named Recipient of UC Davis Staff Assembly Award

 

Staff research associate Joseph Tauzer, who manages the Harry H. Laidlaw Jr. Honey Bee Research Facility and who serves three labs within the UC Davis Department of Entomology and Nematology, is a winner in the UC Davis Staff Assembly's coveted 2025 Citations of Excellence Awards Program.

A Staff Assembly panel selected Tauzer for the No. 2 award in service awards category. He will receive $1000 cash prize and special recognition at the Staff Assembly Awards Ceremony, set Wednesday, Sept. 10 at the residence of UC Davis Chancellor Gary May.

Meet Marshall McMunn

 

Meet UC Davis doctoral alumnus Marshall McMunn, one of the newer members of the UC Davis Department of Entomology and Nematology (ENT) faculty.

McMunn, who joined the ENT faculty in October of 2023, is an assistant professor of teaching, skilled in field biology instruction and data analysis, with key interests in technology-enhanced learning and equity in education.

A Tribute to Renowned Chemical Ecologist Jeffrey Richard Aldrich

The scientific world is mourning the passing of internationally recognized Jeffrey Richard Aldrich, a retired USDA-ARS chemical ecologist and former UC Davis researcher who died June 28 at age 75 in Fort Myers, Fla. He was known, a peer said, as  "one of the best insect chemical ecologists in the world."

Joanna Chiu Elected Fellow of Entomological Society of America

 

Molecular geneticist and physiologist Joanna Chiu, professor and chair of the UC Davis Department of Entomology and Nematology-- and internationally recognized for her research on the molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate circadian and seasonal biology and on invasive species genomics--is a newly elected Fellow of the Entomological Society of America (ESA).
